NdL Carnivores : Preparation of shipments

The owner of the NdL Carnivores store gives us a detailed 10-step explanation of how to prepare the plants for shipping when he receives an order.

You’ll know where you stand!

The Sarracenia that I sell come from tables of culture located outside. They are therefore acclimatized, but not being sheltered, they can also have traces of hail, leafhopper bites in spring, etc.

The shipments are made bare root:

I always try to send presentable plants. The Sarracenia will therefore be cleared of the remains of leaves from previous years, the damaged urns will be removed. Except in cases of force majeure, I do not bend the ballot boxes when sending them.

The roots are wrapped in wet paper towels.

Then the plant is placed in a non-hermetic bag.

The cardboard I use comes from reuse.

Drosera and dionaea usually come directly from the bog. I don’t send them bare root but with their root ball.

As for the Sarracenia, I wrap them in wet paper towels.

Then I also place them in non-airtight bags, to prevent the risk of rotting in case of a longer than expected trip from the postal services.

My packages sometimes look a bit baroque, but that’s the price I pay for having presentable plants when I receive them!
