Description
Drosera
X-Lake-Badgerupii
:
Pygmy Drosera (miniature): The smallest drosera of its kind, unique, beautiful and easy to grow
Its substrate:
A very sandy mix is preferable, as Australian Drosera grow in very sandy soils with a wide range of grain sizes.
*
50% sand / 50% blond peat
*
30% sand /20% vermiculite or perlite / 50% peat;
Watering
:
Exclusively with rainwater, the pot must always be bathed in water.
-Abundant during the growing season (November to May)
Keep the substrate wet with water under the pots.
-During the resting period (from June to October) the substrate must be kept slightly dry, without water under the pots.
without water under the pots.
Exhibition full sun. Hardiness up to 5°C, winter in cold greenhouse.
The Pot:
The size of the pot is very important for the miniature drosera. It should be deeper than it is wide so that the roots can find water in dry periods.
Warning!!! No clay pot.
DORMANCE:
Dormant from June to October
The miniature drosera undergoes two distinct seasons, hot/wet and hot/dry.
It is necessary to respect this change so that the plants enter in rest. In miniature drosera, this results in the production of a hairy bud in the center of the rosette that in nature protects them from heat.
A decrease in watering from May until the substrate is moderately dry is necessary. It’s all in the dosage, you have to find the right balance. During this period (June to October) it is necessary to maintain a dry and warm air.
Growth from November to May. Lower temperatures, higher humidity, and normal watering resume growth as well as the production of gems (embryonic leaves) that form in the center of the rosette. The gems are pieces of tissue that will ensure the descent by cloning because these embryos have the same genetic heritage as the mother plant. Just harvest them and put them on the substrate to have new plants.
