Description
Cephalotus follicularis is a carnivorous plant native to south-western Australia, much sought-after for its unique appearance. Its small, stubby green and red urns are reminiscent of mini pitchers and attract insects with a sweet nectar. A slow-growing but spectacular species, perfect for collectors.
Growing
A temperate climate plant, it appreciates good light without direct sunlight, a moderate temperature and a substrate that’s always moist (but not soggy). It can be grown in a greenhouse, in a temperate glasshouse or on a bright windowsill.
Substrate used
Draining mix of white peat moss, perlite and quartz sand.
Water only with rainwater or demineralized, lime-free water.
Remarks
Plant from my own cultivation bought from an enthusiast and then maintained in cultivation, very healthy, with several well-formed urns. A robust species once established, ideal for carnivorous plant enthusiasts.
