My story with this plant
I obtained my mother plant of Sarracenia ‘Fiona’ through an exchange with an enthusiast 8 years ago. Since then, it has acclimatized perfectly and every year I admire elegant, colorful and vigorous urns.
My crop, substrate used
– 70% unfertilized blond sphagnum moss
– 10% perlite
– 10% vermiculite
– 10% quartz sand
– Growing location: My Sarracenia ‘Fiona’ grow best in my greenhouse bog.
Conditions
– Exposure to full sun under glass enhances color and vigor.
– Water only with rainwater, substrate constantly waterlogged.
– In winter, the greenhouse protects the plant from heavy frosts while respecting its dormant period.
Capture mode
Urns secrete a nectar that attracts insects. As they slide inside, they become trapped and digested.
Special features
– A decorative hybrid appreciated for the vigour and unique colouring of its urns.
– Can offer a beautiful spring bloom.
– A robust, long-lasting plant that is perfectly suited to greenhouse cultivation.
