Description
Sarracenia x moorei — ‘Atlas 5’ is surely one of mankind’s finest hybrid creations and selections. The result of hybridization between ‘Leah Wilkerson’ and ‘Adrian Slack’, created and selected by Miroslav Srba, this selection has rapidly gained worldwide recognition.
This plant stands out for its slender silhouette, great whiteness and remarkable vigor, to the point of being nicknamed “Mirek’s Rocket” by some French growers even before it was registered with the ICPS. This nickname inspired its definitive name, in reference to the American Atlas V rocket launcher used from early 2000 until the early 2020s. Especially as this plant was referenced by Mirek as clone N°5 of this cross. A true destiny, right down to the name.
This plant produces large, sturdy, upright urns that can reach almost a metre in height. The upper part of the traps is dominated by large white areas finely veined with red, with an intensely colored throat. The wide, slightly funnel-shaped peristome and heart-shaped lid give it its unique allure.
This plant is officially registered with the ICPS.
