Description
Sarracenia x moorei — ‘Saurus’ is surely one of the most popular Sarracenia cultivars in the world over the last 15 years.
The king of cultivars since the 2010s, this plant, exceptionally rare at the time, has gradually been democratized by die-hard collectors.
A cross between S. leucophylla × S. flava var. ornata, This plant is renowned for its extraordinary proportions, coloring and extreme genetic variability for hybridization. This Sarracenia produces massive urns reaching 85 to 100 cm on well-established plants. More than its height, it’s its width, sturdiness and imposing appearance that make it one of the most sought-after hybrids today.
This plant will require a few years’ growth in a collection before revealing its full potential.
The urns evolve from a red-veined green to a deep plum to dark red hue, with white ocelli on the cap. The interior of the urns becomes intensely colored, almost metallic/silky in full light.
This cultivar is officially registered with the ICPS.
