Range: South Africa to the north of Mozambique and Madagascar<\/p>\n

\n

Known as Natal Drosera, this plant is native to South and East Africa and is one of the few Drosera species found in Madagascar.<\/p>\n

Culture: can be grown in a variety of soil mixes, but often does best in a sand-rich peat mix, kept moist to damp (but preferably well aerated) and moderately humid, with temperatures from 55 to 85\u00b0 F, year-round; plants can die back to the roots if exposed to frost. Sow seeds on the surface of the soil and cultivate.<\/p>\n

Lifespan and reproduction: perennial. Reproduces by seed and can be grown by leaf and root cuttings and division.<\/p>\n

\n<\/b>maximum 47\u00b0C, (can tolerate more provided it has a well-moistened substrate)<\/span>
\n Winter:<\/span>
\n<\/b> 5\u00b0C, in my heated greenhouse<\/span><\/p>\n

Ideal temperatures: 30 to 47 degrees all year round in its natural habitat. But at home I grow them between 5\u00b0 in winter and 25\u00b0 and from spring to late summer between 15\u00b0 and 50\u00b0.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

WATER and HYGROMETRY<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n


\n Water:<\/span>
\n<\/b> A saucer or tub with about two centimetres of water should submerge the base of the pot, or even up to the height of the pot in summer. In winter, the substrate should always be damp, but not soggy.<\/span>
\n Hygrometry:<\/span>
\n<\/b> Not important for this species.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

LIGHT<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

In winter, to compensate for the lower temperatures it theoretically doesn’t like in the wild, I leave it in full sun.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
